The transformative learning experiences at American Training School for Medical Professionals are designed to help our students grow both in and out of the classroom. Each day is filled with opportunities to experience new educational, social, and emotional situations. Clinical Medical Assistant

Incl. Phlebotomy, EKG and Emergency Procedures

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

The admission and/or graduation requirements for this program may change each academic year, depending on the updated field necessary and standard studies. The student must bet at least a high school graduate, or have a GED (General Equivalency Diploma). The student must also have passed the school’s ESL Entrance exam and attended one class at no cost.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This medical program represents the combination of 6 medical programs and subspecialties such as Pediatric Phlebotomy and Adult Phlebotomy, Pediatric EKG as well as Adult EKG , and Pediatric Medical Procedures and Adult Medical Procedures.  In addition to these program you will be trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) and AED and First Aid.


At the end of this program, you will be ready to pass the  most respected Industry National Exam from the National Certification Medical Association (NCMA). You will be trained to save a life from a cardiac arrest or a respiratory arrest. You will also learn and be proficient in a multilevel skill from a medical office point of view  to an emergency room setting  as well as acute care centers. 

PROGRAM LANGUAGES

Clinical Medical Assistant, ECG/EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician programs are offered partially as bilingual (Spanish-English) and English only. To qualify for the bilingual class, students must be level 3 on the Entrance Exam. Level 2 or lower can be admitted if they provide documentation which verifies that they are attending ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Bilingual classes are offered as part time classes. ATSMP believes that students that are not proficient in English would not be able to obtain employment so easily due to high demand in bilingual professionals. To qualify for the English only class students must be level 6 on the Entrance Exam.

Refresher Clinical Medical Assistant Continuing Education

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This Clinical Medical assistant, Phlebotomy, and EKG refresher is designed for those Clinical Medical Assistants who have graduated  but have not worked in the field. Also this program is ideal for those individuals that have never taken or passed any industry credentials certification examinations. This program can also be helpful for those individuals that would like to obtain more knowledge and skills in these three careers. 


In this course you will acquire knowledge  in the following topics Basic Life Support, Automated External Defibrillation under the American heart association protocols and guidelines, Pediatric and Adult phlebotomy under the guidelines and standards of the CLSI. You will also be trained in clinical arrhythmia interpretation, stress testing, supine, fowler, supine, prone , and resting EKG. In addition you will learn to administered asthma therapy, and oxygen therapy. Lastly you will learn ER code intervention, vaccine and injection admiration, vital signs  among the many more things .

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION | PHLEBOTOMY

This program of venipuncture and capillary puncture is in fact a two program in one in which you learn pediatric phlebotomy and adult phlebotomy. 


Our focus is to create the new generation of loved and respected academic phlebotomist. Phlebotomist  are a lot more than just individuals that are in charge to drawing out  blood.  Instead they are professionals that  are a major comportment  of analytical testing.  They are also responsible  that your blood results are accurate for proper diagnostic and treatment of the patient . 


We will prepare you to pass the most respected credential examination in your  first try guarantee if you follow our guidance and study assignments. You as the student will have to do your part and study a lot  but once you have completed the program you will be part of the movement in reducing pre-examination errors , thus   helping the doctors in their patient management. You will make not only a difference in the healthcare but you will provide the real definition of the most underestimated profession, the Clinical phlebotomist. 

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION | PEDIATRIC PHLEBOTOMY

Welcome to the pediatric capillary and Venipuncture specialty. This is a continuing education course you will learn the technicality that is missed today in the formal phlebotomy academic career. 


This course will provide to you the tools, knowledge and the importance in reducing Iatrogenic Anemia and providing better patient care. In addition will come to learn and understand the pediatric psychology and provide a quality in specimen obtain not only in the physician office laboratory. In addition you will be trained in how to use pediatric lab devices as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each device. Other topics touch in this course are neonatal screening and blood vessel drawing techniques.

Electrocardiography

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 

In the cardiology field much is expected from the so called EKG/ ECG Technician. Why do we  just called like that since there is so much more than just apply electrodes to the patient’s skin and press the  print  key on the ECG/ EKG  machine to obtain a 12 lead rhythm strip.?


This professional must be an expert in knowing different ECG/ EKG machines, their properties,  and how to properly place electrodes. In addition you will learn how to use professional academic judgement of when to use the mason likar technique, the resting vs. non resting EKG and how to  place and run an stress testing.  You will also be able to accurately recognized instrumentation artifacts, besides the dominance in protocols in clinical impressions of a 12 lead rhythm strip to both the pediatric and adult patient.

Cardiac Monitoring and Telemetry

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 

In the Cardiology field , the Coronary Care unit or Telemetry unit  is considered to be an continuing medical course. Which is designed to enhance cardiac arrhythmia recognition dysrhythmia found in the cardiac admitted patient. If you are an academic professional you will find more understanding of the language that cardiologist use in the everyday practice towards rhythm strips and cardiac diseases. If you are not an academic meaning that you did not graduate from a formal ECG/ EKG program this course would be a lot for you to handle. You are recommended  to  complete  the EKG/ ECG Technician program , obtain a job as an EKG/ ECG  for a minimum of at least 6 months to a year to gain experience and then come back as a seasoned EKG/ ECG Technician ready to embark in this exciting continue education program.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Technology

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION    

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Technology program enables its students to attain full competency and a promising career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Technology.  Sonographers are highly skilled professionals qualified by technological education to provide patient services using diagnostic ultrasound to asses patients conditions and identify pathological or abnormal findings. 


PROGRAM LANGUAGES    

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Vascular Technology program is offered solely in English. For ESL students to qualify for the English only class, students must achieve an English Proficient Level 6.  This program may also be offered partially as bilingual (Spanish-English) and English only. To qualify for the bilingual class, students must be level 3 on the Entrance Exam. Level 2 or lower can be admitted if they provide documentation which verifies that they are attending ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Bilingual classes are offered as part time classes. ATSMP believes that students that are not proficient in English would not be able to obtain employment so easily due to high demand in bilingual professionals.

IV Therapy and Sutures | Continuing Education

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION    

This continued medical education  course is intended for the local health care practitioner as well as the LPN, RN, clinical medical assistants, local & international doctors, medical aesthetics licensed professionals, dentists, naturopathic doctors; all can benefit from this program. 


Disorders of acid–base balance can be found in  9 out of 10 patients in the ICU as published by Paul L. Marino MD, Phd, FCCM, Director of the Critical Care at Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.  


To understand water and electrolyte balance, composition of the IV fluids bags, the advantages and disadvantages of IV, the supplies and devices used, the infection control , the anatomy of the blood vessels and regional anatomy are just a few of the lecture topics seeing in the IV module. 


In the suture module students will develop the  suturing techniques, local anesthetics injection, as well as indications and contraindications in wound management.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION    

The Medical Massage Therapy program enables its students to attain full competency and a promising career in Massage Therapist.  There are 2 types of Massage Therapists; First, there is the Massage and Bodywork Therapist, and now, there is the Medical Massage Therapist. Our training is formulated with medical principals that are needed in sports medicine, pain management centers, physical therapy, chiropractor  centers, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long term health care facility  and Spas. Our goal is to enable our students to use their hands in the treating and healing of patient conditions and complaints.


PROGRAM LANGUAGES    The Massage Therapy program is offered solely in English. For ESL students to qualify for the English only class, students must achieve an English Proficient Level 6.

Radiofrequency and Ultrasonic Cavitation | Continuing Education

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION    

This continued medical education  course is intended for the local health care practitioner as well as the LPN, RN, local & international doctors, medical aesthetics licensed professionals, and naturopathic doctors; all can benefit from this program. 

 

Students will learn the medical physics and mechanics of machine operations as well as the science of cavitation. In-depth lecture and training on Body Sculpting with Ultrasound Cavitation and Radio Frequency including how to safely and effectively perform the treatment on clients. You can train with us on our machines or at your place of work with your own machine. Ultrasonic Cavitation targets fat cells in the desired area and breaks them down so they can be disposed off naturally through lymphatic physiology. Radio Frequency firms, tightens and lifts the skin as well as improving cellulite appearance.
